YANGON, 28 Mar - A ceremony to commission into service Dawei-Ye Railroad, built with the strength of the Tatmadawmen, was held at the pandal near Dawei Station in Dawei, Taninthayi Division, on 26 March morning, as a gesture hailing the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day, addressed by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Present were Chairman of Taninthayi Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Coastal Region Command Maj-Gen Thura Thiha Thura Sit Maung, Minister for Rail Transportation U Pan Aung, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Immigration and Population U Saw Tun, Deputy Minister for Construction Thura Aye Myint, Deputy Minister for Forestry Col Thaik Tun, Vice-Adjutant-General Brig-Gen Maung Nyo, Vice-Quartermaster-General Brig-Gen Kyaw Win, Director of Medical Services Brig-Gen Mya Thein Han, Col Kyaw San of Dawei Station, heads of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council and department concerned, division and district level officials in Taninthayi Division, the Tatmadawmen and families, departmental officials, service personnel, teachers and students from Dawei, Yebyu, Longlon and Thayetchaung Townships, members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, Red Cross and Auxiliary Fire Brigade, service personnel of Myanma Railways and local people.

The special train with Minister U Pan Aung and guests left Dawei Station for Ye in Mon State at 7.30 am. Along the railroad various national races from each station welcomed the train.

The train arrived at Chaungtaung Station in Ye Township at 5.30 pm. Minister U Pan Aung and Deputy Commander of South-East Command Brig-Gen Aung Thein formally inaugurated the railroad at the station.

Minister U Pan Aung presented cash for Tatmadawmen and personnel of MR who participated in construction of railroad to Tactical Operation Commander Col Khin Maung Win of No 22 LID and Engineer U Sein Hlaing.

The 101.36-mile Dawei-Ye Railroad was built by the Tatmadawmen and opened with the assistance of State, technology of Ministry of Rail Transportation and close cooperation of the Commands.

(2) New Life Project will contribute to development of Taninthayi Division

YANGON, 28 Mar - Chairman of Region-wise Agriculture Sector Development Leading Committee Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo attended the coordination meeting on development of Taninthayi Division at Meeting Hall of National Convention Convening Work Committee in Kyaikkasan Ground this afternoon.

Present also were Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin, Minister for Mines Brig-Gen Ohn Myint, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Transport Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein, Minister for Energy Brig-Gen Lun Thi, Ministers at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung and Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe, deputy ministers, Officer on Special Duty at the Office of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Than Tint, directors-general and managing directors of the ministries and officials.

(3) Computers becoming crucial part of daily business and social life

YANGON, 28 Mar - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo addressed the opening ceremony of the computer exhibition marking the tenth Founding Anniversary of Yangon Institute of Computer Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology in the Diamond Jubilee Hall of Yangon University this morning.

The ceremony was also attended by Minister for Science and Technology U Thaung, Ministers at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung and Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe, Chief Justice U Aung Toe, Attorney-General U Tha Tun, Acting Auditor-General Brig-Gen Tin Aye, deputy ministers, Officer on Special Duty at the Office of the State Law and Order Restoration Council Lt-Col Than Tint, rectors, pro-rectors, department heads, officials of private computer companies, faculty members of ICST, students and guests.

(4) Secretary-2 meets nationalities youths of border areas

YANGON, 28 Mar - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo met nationalities youths of border areas, currently here on a study tour, at the guest houses in South Okkalapa Township this evening.

Meeting them, the Secretary-2 spoke of the need to study things which contribute toward development tasks of their region, urging them to make efforts in their study so that they can discharge State duties in future.

He urged them to strive to become outstanding students and participate in whatever role they can for development of their respective regions.

Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than and Minister of Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt also greeted the youths to whom Minister Col Thein Nyunt provided cash assistance.

(5) Myanmar Wholesale Rice Merchants Association holds annual general meeting

YANGON 28 Mar - The Fourth Annual General Meeting of Myanmar Wholesale Rice Merchants Association was held at Karaweik Hall this afternoon.

It was attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo, Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung, Deputy Minister for Commerce Col Kyaw Shwe, Deputy Minister for Forestry Col Thaik Tun, OSD at Office of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Than Tint, heads of departments, officials of organizations concerned and guests.

CEC Member U Aung Maw of the association emceed the meeting.

Chairman of MWRMA U Nyein first made an opening speech.

Then, Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung, Deputy Ministers Col Thaik Tun and Col Kyaw Shwe and Secretary of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry U Maung Maung spoke.

The master of ceremonies made an announcement on the K 220,000-donation made by nine well-wishers for the association.

The meeting approved the financial statements and reports presented by the Central Executive Committee of the association and formed the new central executive committee of the association.

(6) Minister meets personnel of Nyaungdon Township INRD

YANGON, 28 Mar - Member of Central Executive Committee of the Union Solidarity and Development Association Minister for Immigration and Population U Saw Tun met personnel of Nyaungdon Township Immigration and National Registration Department this morning.

He told them to correctly and speedily implement the plan on national registration, to be free from bribery and corruption in the line of duties and to strive for promoting the quality.

The minister then went to Danubyu where he paid homage to Kyaikkalun Pagoda.

Meeting township authorities and departmental officials there, he called for efforts and cooperation of officials and townsfolk for all-round development of the town.

Later, he paid homage to ancient Buddha images at Waizayanda Kyaung of Khinmakan Kyaungtaik there and presented offertories to the Sayadaw and members of the Sangha.
