Intellectual development of national races is pivotal for narrowing development gap between the region of one national race and another and it contributes to national development.

For the nation to emerge peaceful, modern and developed, it is required that national brethren must love and respect one another and also understand and trust each other.

UDNR graduates are duty-bound to organize the parents of the children who cannot attend schools though they have attained school-age and work as cetana teachers as well as educational organizers.

UDNR students have to cooperate with the government in implementing the political, economic and social objectives for emergence of a peaceful, modern and developed nation.

(7) Vitality of quality and standard in manufacturing goods stressed

YANGON, 26 Feb - Seminar on industrial products quality Control of Myanma Industrial Development Committee concluded today at the Ministry of Industry-2 with an address by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

This was an important seminar for Myanmar's industrial development, he noted, indicating the vitality of quality and standard in manufacturing industrial, farm, forest, mineral and other products.

Although quality is not so important for domestic products, exports items should meet the required quality and standard as such quality goods win higher prices in foreign markets, he said.

Mottos - double production, buy local products and leap forward with industrial strength - are being featured in the dailies for Myanmars to strive on self-reliance and to practice thrift for national economic progress and for the country to become an industrialized nation within a short period, he said.

The Secretary-2 quoted Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe's address at the opening of Management Course No 13 for USDA Executives on 4 February as saying, "Under the circumstances, the entire people are to practice thrift as much as possible. They will have to give priority to local products and buy foreign goods only when there is no choice. Advanced techniques should be applied in agriculture and other economic fields as a means to produce value-added goods."

This guidance shows the need to uplift the quality and standard of local products including industrial goods to increase sales and to double production, he pointed out.

The seminar is the first step toward ensuring effective control of all local products, he said, stressing the need to implement the aims of the meeting and to hold more such seminars.

U Khin Sein of Sein Family Compressor Industry, on behalf of representatives of industrial zones, thanked the officials for organizing the seminar.

Management Committee of Dagon South Industrial Zone presented K 15,000 for the seminar.
